NCCF & NDCF Certification Test Overview

The evaluation begins with a written test of terminology and floral product Identification; this must be passed with a minimum score of 70%.

The live test is a surprise package and a timed evaluation of your ability to create professional floral designs in five categories: Wedding Design, Sympathy Design, Vase Arrangement, Flowers to Wear, and Duplicate Design

Test Expectations: the written test is a one-hour, 50-question exam covering basic floral knowledge. It includes true/false and multiple-choice questions on flower, foliage, and plant identification. You will be asked to identify provided photos using the common botanical name. A 20-minute pre-test orientation will outline the category requirements, review materials, and include a fresh-product sorting activity. Hands on Design Test: Students will have four hours to complete all five designs. Designs must be on the table with correct category identification at the end of the time. Evaluation: Designs will be scored by AIFD-certified judges on technical skill, creativity, and adherence to design principles and elements. Scoring Requirements: Students must achieve 70% or higher in each design category and the written exam to pass and earn the certification. Results: Students will find out their results within a week of the tests completion. If you passed: Students who would like to pursue the CFD or AIFD pathway must reach out to Sandy for next steps. If you need to retake: Students who do not pass the test can follow up with Sandy to go over next steps.
